Spray-On Bed Liner Installation in San Diego, CA

Our shop is at 7161 Engineer Rd, in the middle of Kearny Mesa — the industrial and commercial district the City calls a major employment center, and the part of town the work trucks are already in. For a San Diego truck the liner goes on here, in the city, with no run out to another county and back at either end of it.

What San Diego Beds Carry

  • This is a defense town before it is anything else, and plenty of that work moves in pickups: tooling, test gear, and parts running between contractors, bases, and the yards on the bay.
  • There are six shipyards on the bay, which the Port describes as the largest shipbuilding and repair operation on the West Coast. Yard work means metal, and metal in a bed finds the paint on the first corner you take.
  • Trade, transport, and utilities employ as big a share of this county as any other sector. That is delivery and service trucks loading and unloading several times a day, which is the wear pattern a liner exists for.
  • Then the same truck does the weekend. A bed that takes a jobsite load on Monday and boards, bikes, or green waste on Saturday gets scratched from both directions.

Being This Close to the Water

  • Salt in the air carries twenty to thirty miles inland from the coast, which is the whole county. What is different about the city is that it is at the near end of that, not the far end.
  • Salt does very little to intact paint and a lot to a scratch. Every gouge in a bed floor is a place corrosion can start, and a sealed bed does not have any.
  • A sprayed liner bonds to the metal instead of sitting in it, so there is no gap underneath for damp and grit to collect where you would never look.
  • The bed hoses out and goes back to work. Nothing to lift, nothing sitting against the steel.

How the Job Goes

  • Prep comes first: cleaned, sanded, masked. That is where the bond is made, and it decides whether a liner lasts or lifts.
  • The liner is sprayed to an even thickness across floor, walls, and tailgate. The tailgate matters most, since everything crosses it twice.
  • Over-rail or under-rail is your call. Over-rail covers the top of the bed rail, which is what takes it if you load from the side or rest a ladder there.
  • It has to cure before the truck goes back to work. Call (858) 279-0240 and we will tell you what to plan for before you drop it off.

Common Questions

Where can I get a spray-in bed liner in San Diego?
At our shop, 7161 Engineer Rd in Kearny Mesa. We spray it here rather than handing the truck to a third party, so the work and the person who quoted it are in the same building. Call (858) 279-0240.
Do you do anything besides bed liners?
Yes — truck caps, tonneau covers, racks, toolboxes, and accessories, all fitted at the same shop. Our San Diego location page at /san-diego has the full range, plus hours and directions.
Does being near the coast change whether I need one?
It raises the stakes on scratches more than it changes the answer. Salt carries a long way inland off the ocean, and bare metal in a bed floor is usually the first part of a truck it gets to work on. Sealing the bed removes the starting point.
Is a spray-on liner better than a drop-in?
A spray-on liner bonds to the bed and seals it, so water and grit cannot get underneath and cause rust. A drop-in is removable and cheaper up front, but debris trapped beneath it can wear through the paint over time.
How much does a spray-on bed liner cost?
Pricing depends on your truck’s bed length and how much coverage you want. Call (858) 279-0240 for a free estimate on your exact vehicle.
